UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep. 17 — In 2026, Russian forces conducted 145 attacks on railway infrastructure in the Kharkiv oblast, the National Police Headquarters in the Kharkiv oblast told Gwara Media in response to a press inquiry.

According to the police, Russians attacked railway stations, trains, locomotives, depots, tracks, contact lines, power substations, and other objects during this period.

In July, the Russians carried out the highest number of attacks on railway objects — 28. There were 25 attacks in June, 19 in May, 16 each in March and September, 14 in August, 12 in January, eight in February, and seven in April.

This year, the Russians have intensified their attacks on Ukraine’s railway infrastructure. They are specifically targeting passenger trains — e.g., on Sep. 9, a Russian drone attacked a train at a railway station near Iskra village in the Izium district in eastern Kharkiv oblast.
