UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Jun 5 — Russian troops are trying to ferry assault groups across the Oskil River using cables, boats, and even tyre tubes in the Kupiansk direction. Ukrainian forces detect and destroy these groups, preventing them from reaching the opposite (right — ed.) bank, said Vitalii Milovidov, a lieutenant colonel of the 15th Operational Brigade, to Army TV.
Today, Russia conducted three attacks on Ukrainian positions in Kharkiv Oblast, said the General Staff. Russians are advancing in Vovchansk, but the fight there is still ongoing.
Milovidov said that the dynamics of the ground assaults on Kupiansk axis are stable but less intense than in other parts of the frontline.
“Russians pull cables or ropes in the narrowest places (of the Oskil River). We conduct constant aerial monitoring, and these vehicles are detected and targeted by our artillery or drones,” he said.
In the same places, one or two Russian soldiers try to cross the river with “any tools available,” including boats or tyre tubes.
Milovidov also said that Russian aviation continues to work actively, conducting up to 10 flights per day to attack people in Kupiansk and Ukrainian positions over the frontline.
On the Kupiansk axis, Ukrainian forces repelled Russian attacks near Zahryzove and Petropavlivka villages. Earlier, authorities reported that the city of Kupiansk itself is 90% destroyed by Russian shelling.
On June 5, Russian troops launched seven drones on the Slobidskyi district of Kharkiv, injuring 18 people, including a pregnant woman and four children.
