UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, May 18 — In the night on May 13, the military of the 57th motorized brigade evacuated two civilians from the Vovchansk community with the help of ground drone, said to journalists Ruslana Bohdan, the press officer of the 57th Motorized Brigade.
The Vovchansk community was one of the main targets of a Russian offensive in May 2024, including Vovchansk city itself, which was completely destroyed by Russian attacks.
According to Bohdan, the military received the information about a 85-year-old woman with disabilities and her 50-year-old son while delivering provisions to frontline positions. In 10 minutes, soldiers changed the mission and evacuated civilians.
The military carefully placed the woman on the ground drone. Her son got a head injury and was evacuated along with his mother. He walked by foot near the drone, guided by soldiers.
Bohdan said that the family lived for two years in an area of active combat actions.
The head of the third motorized unit, which conducted the evacuation, said that it was their first time using a ground drone for evacuation of civilian people. Earlier, they conducted missions like this on cars but the threat of Russian drones made that impossible.
