UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep. 22 — Last week, Kharkiv regional emergency service evacuated 612 civilians from the frontline areas in the Kharkiv oblast, the emergency service said.

Among those evacuated are 65 children and 56 people with disabilities, the service added.

Rescuers, police officers, volunteers, and local government officials are involved in evacuation missions.

On May 10, 2024, Russians launched a second ground offensive north of the Kharkiv region, causing a massive wave of displacement from settlements that had been liberated during the Kharkiv counteroffensive in 2022.

In August, local authorities once again expanded the mandatory evacuation zone in the Bohodukhiv district in northwestern Kharkiv oblast.
