UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Jul. 21 — Local officials are not considering the evacuation of civilians from Izium in eastern Kharkiv oblast currently, Oleh Syniehubov, governor of the Kharkiv region, said during the meeting with journalists.
Izium is a city in eastern Kharkiv oblast, located on the right bank of the Oskil river, 30 kilometers (~19 miles) from the frontline near Borova settlement and 28 kilometers (~17 miles) from the frontline in Donetsk oblast.
On the evening of Jul. 17, the Russians attacked Izium with glide bombs, injuring seven people, including children.
Two days later, they launched drones at a five-story apartment building in the city center, injuring 17 people, including children. The attack damaged five apartment buildings and 20 cars, too.
On Jul. 20, Russians attacked Izium with glide bombs once again, damaging apartment buildings and houses. Authorities didn’t report on casualties after the attack.
According to Syniehubov, the municipal services are focusing their efforts on quickly cleaning up the damage from the Russian attacks. He added that Izium is being hit by Russia just as regularly as Kharkiv.
