UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug. 11 — Over the past week, Kharkiv police, rescuers, volunteers, and local officials have evacuated 1,234 people from the dangerous areas of the Kharkiv oblast, said the Kharkiv regional Emergency Service.

There were 161 children and 104 people with disabilities among evacuees, said the emergency services.

The Russians continue to expand their kill zone in the western, northern, and eastern parts of the Kharkiv oblast by modernizing their weapons attacking settlements that were previously out of their reach.

On Jul. 3, Oleh Syniehubov, governor of the Kharkiv oblast, announced the extension of the evacuation zone, including in the Kupiansk, Bohodukhiv, and Kharkiv districts. 

In some areas near the Russian border, authorities also ordered the mandatory evacuation of children with their families. In July, officials also added settlements in the Chuhuiv district to this list.
