UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Jul. 8 — Over 90 settlements in the Kharkiv district are in a mandatory evacuation zone because the security situation is getting worse, said Oleh Syniehubov, governor of the Kharkiv oblast.
According to Syniehubov, these settlements are located in the Kharkiv, Vovchansk, Kupiansk, and Izium districts. In several of them, the mandatory evacuation of families with children is ongoing.
Officials have been announcing evacuation because of constant Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure and logistical difficulties, Syniehubov said.
“If we don’t evacuate people from there now, it will be very difficult to get them out later,” he added.
Every day, between 50 and 100 people are evacuated from dangerous areas in the Kharkiv oblast.
Syniehubov also said that the Kharkiv oblast is receiving evacuees from the Donetsk oblast through the transit center in Lozova. More than 200 people arrive there every day.
