UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Jul. 6 — Kharkiv regional police evacuated two people from a border community north of the Kharkiv oblast, reported the press service of the Kharkiv regional police.
Police evacuated a woman and a man from the Slatyne settlement of the Kharkiv district. The settlement is located 11 kilometers (~7 miles) from the Russia-Ukraine border.
During the evacuation, Russian forces conducted an FPV drone attack, said the police.
Despite the danger, the police officers transported the people to the coordination center in Kharkiv, where they’ve been provided with all the necessary help.
On Jul. 3, local officials declared a mandatory evacuation for families with children in the northern part of the Kharkiv district, including Slatyne and other nearby settlements.
At the end of last year, Gwara Media journalists visited Slatyne, where locals from the nearest Kozacha Lopan settlement (9 kilometers/~6 miles away) had gathered to receive humanitarian aid, and spoke to them to find out why they keep living so close to Russia.
