UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Nov. 5 — Russian troops remain active in the north of the Kharkiv oblast, trying to assault near Anyshchyne village in the Velykyi Burluk axis and near Hraniv village near Kozacha Lopan, Viktor Trehubov, the press officer of the military group responsible for the Kharkiv oblast, told ArmyFM, Ukrainian radio station owned by Defense Ministry.
Near Kozacha Lopan, Russian forces are breaking through in the area of the Hraniv border village. Maps from DeepState, an OSINT war monitoring group, show Russian advances east of Hraniv on Oct. 28–29.
Trehubov said that the Russians initially tried to deepen this advance toward Kozacha Lopan, but changed tactics, and there is now indeed an advance east of Hraniv. According to the military, the Russians were able to make this advance thanks to the gray zone, which remains dynamic.
On the Velykyi Burluk axis, the Russians have also made a breakthrough near Anyshchyne village. Trehubov said this breakthrough is small, but the Russians are trying to expand it in all directions.
“Because of this, there is some shuffling around Anyshchyne, which Ukrainian forces are trying to counter,” Trehubov added.
A military called the Velykyi Burluk axis the “record-holder” for the number of Russian claims about captured settlements that do not correspond to reality.
Trehubov also said that the Russians have not given up on the idea of capturing Kupiansk despite the Ukrainian counteroffensive north of the city near Holubivka village, through which the Russians had planned to infiltrate using gas pipelines.
To secure a stable and unimpeded route into Kupiansk from the north, the Russians have shifted their efforts. They are now attacking Radkivka, which is located about 3 km (1.9 miles) west of Holubivka.
