UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Nov. 3 — One of Russia’s largest-scale attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has been underway since last night, with Russian forces carrying out more than 20 attacks on energy facilities across the country, Ukrenergo, a state-owned power grid operator, said.

In total, Russia attacked energy facilities in 10 regions of Ukraine, including Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Odesa, Chernihiv, Chernivtsi, Khmelnytskyi, and Kharkiv oblasts, Artem Nekrasov, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine, said.

According to him, Russian missile and drone attacks damaged power plants, substations in the power transmission and distribution systems, and combined heat and power plants.

Nekrasov added that the most difficult situation with electricity supply is in the Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, and Kharkiv regions.

Gwara Media journalists report that power has been out in Kharkiv and other settlements in the region for nearly 7 hours since the morning of Nov. 3.

Nekrasov said that emergency power outages are being decalred in the Kyiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, and Kharkiv regions. The situation may change throughout the day, as repair work, as well as the Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure, are still ongoing.

At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported a massive attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Russia claimed it hit the Kharkiv thermal power plant, the Zmiivska substation, and the Losevo substation in the Kharkiv oblast.

Ukrainian officials didn’t specify that certain energy facilities have been attacked in Ukraine, including in the Kharkiv oblast.
