Nov. 3 — On Nov. 5, Melania Trump, the First Lady of the United States, will arrange a meeting between Russian and Ukrainian representatives, reported the White House.
According to the White House, Melania Trump initiated the meeting between Kyiv and Moscow after the successful ceasefire from Oct. 27 to Nov. 1 in Oleshky, Kherson region.
Russia occupied Oleshky in 2022, and in mid-2026 the humanitarian situation in the city worsened. After the Russian forces blocked the city, Oleshky locals faced severe shortages of food, drinking water, power, and medical supplies. The White House claimed that the First Lady has secured a truce between Kyiv and Moscow to facilitate the evacuation of civilians from the city.
However, the White House didn’t specify the identities of the representatives. Russia and Ukraine also haven’t commented publicly on this statement.
At the same time, the Kyiv Independent, citing its sources, reported that Dmytro Lubinets, Ukraine’s Ombudsman, and Yana Lantratova, Russia’s Commissioner for Human Rights, are expected to attend the White House on Nov. 5.
