UKRAINE, DERHACHI COMMUNITY, Nov. 4 — In September and October, Russian attacks on the Derhachi community in the Kharkiv oblast killed eight and injured 67 people, Viacheslav Zadorenko, the head of the Derhachi city military administration, said.
The Derhachi community is located in northern Kharkiv oblast, with settlements very close to the Russia-Ukraine border. Derhachi itself is located about 22 kilometers (~14 miles) from the border. Russian forces launch airstrikes at the community every day.
According to Zadorenko, this autumn, Russian forces attacked the community with first-person view (FPV) drones, glide bombs, Geran and Molniya drones, and ballistic missiles.
The attacks damaged nearly 100 houses and outbuildings, five administrative buildings, over 10 civilian businesses, and at least 54 civilian cars.
Zadorenko added that Ukrainian forces continue to defend the community against Russian soldiers who try to push deeper into the region near Kozacha Lopan and Hoptivka settlements.
Russian forces have been attempting to advance near the state border toward Kozacha Lopan since June.
On Nov. 1, DeepState, an OSINT war monitoring group, reported on the Russian advance in Hoptivka.
In early July, local authorities expanded the evacuation zone in the Kharkiv region to cover 60 settlements across three districts, including villages and towns of the Derhachi community. Zadorenko said that, this autumn, 473 locals officially left the mandatory evacuation zone. Currently, 102 people remain in the settlements located 10 kilometers (~6 miles) from the Russia-Ukraine border, he added.
