On October 8, Russian military operations near Kupyansk persisted, with reports suggesting recent advancements. According to a Russian mil blogger, Russian forces made gains in several areas on October 7, including near Lyman Pershyi (12km northeast of Kupyansk), the Synkivka rail station (8km northeast of Kupyansk), the Tymkivka-Ivanivka line (18-20km east of Kupyansk), and the Orlyanka-Yahidne line (21-22km southeast of Kupyansk). However, there has been no confirmation of these claims by ISW.

According to the Ukrainian General Staff, Ukrainian forces successfully defended against several Russian assaults near Synkivka and Ivanivka, situated 20 kilometers east of Kupyansk. Captain Ilya Yevlash, the Ukrainian Eastern Group of Forces spokesperson, explained that Russian forces have escalated their utilization of aviation in the Kupyansk-Lyman area. This increased use of aircraft is aimed at bolstering their offensive operations in these regions and addressing their deficiency in artillery capabilities.
