RUSSIA, NOVOROSSIYSK, Sep. 10 — On Sep. 9, Ukrainian forces attacked a port in Novorossiysk, Russia, hitting fuel oil storage and at least three ships, the General Staff of Ukrainian Forces reported.

According to the General Staff, the attack damaged the Zheleznyakov small naval ship, the Admiral Essen frigate, and the large landing ship Pyotr Morgunov.

Andrei Kravchenko, the mayor of Novorossiysk, reported the fire in the port but said it was caused by falling debris. The mayor didn’t specify the company that caught fire and didn’t say whether anyone was injured.

ASTRA’s OSINT analysts found that the fire broke out on the premises of the Novorossiysk Fuel Oil Terminal company. It’s one of the leading companies in Novorossiysk transportation hub and is a part of Port of Novorossiysk, Russia’s largest seaport in terms of transshipment volume. 

The terminal stores and enables shipment of fuel oil and light petroleum products. Its capacity is approximately 4 million metric tons per year.
