The Ukrainian army is fighting off all Russian attempts to conduct an offensive in the Kupiansk direction. According to the Commander of Ground Forces of the AFU, Olexandr Syrskyi, Russians are trying to reach Synkivka in Kharkiv Oblast to advance towards Kupiansk itself. 

Colonel general states that Ukrainian defenders are fighting off all Russian attempts [to move forward — ed.].

British Intelligence reports that, with the winter coming, there are no perspectives to change the frontline in the east of Ukraine. During the last week, the fiercest combat was happening near Kupiansk in Kharkiv and Luhansk Oblasts, in Avdiivka in Donetsk Oblast, and on the left bank of Dnipro in Kherson Oblast. Neither army achieved significant progress.
