UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Oct. 5 — Around 10:50 p.m. on Oct. 4, the Russian military hit the Industrialnyi district of Kharkiv with three Banderol missiles, killing a 42-year-old man and injuring eight people, some of them — in a double-tap strike. Gwara Media journalists worked at the impact site to document the aftermath of the attack.
According to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, Russian S-8000 Banderol missiles hit a non-residential area of the city near the residential neighborhood. A man killed in the attack was driving past the future impact site when the missile hit.
Among the injured people, there were women aged 28, 39, and 53, and men aged 28 and 24. A 41-year-old man got an acute stress reaction in the aftermath of the attack. Three police workers were injured in the double-tap strike after arriving at the scene as first responders — two of them were hospitalized.
Russia uses Banderol missiles to attack Kharkiv often since they started doing it in May 2026. Downing Banderol is challenging for Ukrainian air defense because their low altitude makes them notoriously hard to detect. An air defense system capable of shooting them down efficiently is still in development.
Previously, on the morning of Sept. 24, the Russian military used Banderol missiles to attack a farm at Stara Hnylytsia in the Kharkiv oblast, killing six people there.
