UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep. 24 — This morning, two Russian Banderol missiles attacked a farm used to store vegetables and grains in the village of Stara Hnylytsia, located 30 kilometers (19 miles) east of Kharkiv, killing six, injuring 12 people Valerii Dereka, the head of the Stara Hnylytsia administrative district, told Gwara Media.
According to Dereka, one Banderol hit the road near the farm, while the other slammed through a farm building itself.
“This was the first deadly attack on the village,” Dereka said.
Gwara Media journalists visited the damaged farm to document the consequences of the Russian attack.
Dereka said that four injured people remain in severe conditions. All of them were hospitalized in Kharkiv.
Dereka said that the three killed workers were from a neighboring settlement of Malynivka, as there aren’t enough people in Stara Hnylytsia itself to work on the farm.
One of the workers killed was a refugee from Kupiansk, a city in eastern Kharkiv oblast that is currently under heavy Russian attacks. The other two people killed in the Russian airstrike were Stara Hnylytsia locals.
Dereka said that there are no shelters on the farm or nearby, so the workers continued working during the air raid alert.
“The farm has some kind of warning system but I don’t know whether it was working,” he added.
He also said that Russian forces attacked fields where people were working earlier in summer, but no one was killed or injured in those attacks.
