Ecologists assessed the environmental damage caused by the January rocket attack on Kharkiv.

This was reported by Suspilne referring to the Kharkiv Oblast State Environmental Inspectorate`s press service.

On Jan. 10, Russians hit a pyrotechnics warehouse in the Kyivskyi district in Kharkiv. The attack caused the detonation of pyrotechnic products. According to the State Environmental Inspectorate, the damage caused to the ecology reaches UAH 1,5 billion (~$40 million).

“As a result [of the attack], land resources were littered with remnants of missile warheads, as well as remnants of metal roofing, fragments of bricks, broken glass, concrete, wood, plastic, and cardboard containers. The area of ​​1,693 m2 is affected, and the waste volume reaches 423 m3,” the message reads.

The State Inspectorate handed over the materials to the Kharkiv Oblast prosecutor’s office.

Earlier, it was reported that the environmental damage assessment caused by Russia since Feb. 24 reached $25 million.
