Sep. 15 — On Sep. 12, Ukrainian airstrike disrupted operations in the Tollyattikauchuk chemical plant, Samara region, that produces several materials used by the Russian defense industry, reported the General Staff of Ukraine 

According to the OSINT community named “Absolutely Reliable Source,” three workshops were put out of work. The facilities carry out the full production cycle of butyl rubber and produce an isobutane fraction used in further chemical synthesis. 

Butyl rubber is used in the production of tires, including for military vehicles. Synthetic rubber can also be used as polymer fuel binder in composite solid rocket propellants, commonly used for missiles.  

On the same day, Ukrainian drones attacked the KubyshevAzot chemical plant in the Russian city of Tolyatti. A fire broke out at the facility following the attack, show photos and videos published by the city’s locals. 

The plant is one of Russia’s major producers of caprolactam and nitrogen fertilizers and supplies raw materials to the chemical and textile industries.
