UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Oct. 28 — Russia targeted the same neighborhood in Kharkiv twice over the span of 24 hours, reported Gwara Media’s journalists from the impact site of the latest attack. Our journalists have been at the locations in the evening on Oct. 27, today’s morning and after the second drone strike.
Both attacks occurred in the Osnovianskyi district of Kharkiv.
The first Russian drone strike hit the city on Oct. 27, at about 10:40 p.m., causing a fire at a civilian business building, an apartment building, and a house. The attack injured five people, including a four-year-old boy, the Kharkiv regional Prosecutor’s Office reported.
A huge fire took over the area — Gwara reported that firefighters were working to put out the flames in the morning, too.
Tetiana, a local, was at home when the explosion happened. She and her family watched from their windows as the fire broke out. The building itself shook, she said, but everything remained safe.
Tetiana’s apartment’s windows had already been replaced twice because of previous Russian attacks in 2022 and 2025.
A Russian drone struck near the garage cooperative. Tetiana went outside to see if their garage was still standing.
On Oct. 28 at 12:55 p.m., another Russian drone hit the same area, hitting the postal service building. The attack killed a man and injured a woman and three men, the prosecutors said.
