UKRAINE, DONETSK REGION, Sep. 15 — Ukrainian military had launched a counteroffensive in the Lyman axis in northern Donetsk region, reported Ukraine’s Third Army Corps, calling this operation “Vivaldi.” 

The Ukrainian military said that operation was conducted under “information blackout,” clearing 75 square kilometers of territory and recapturing 10 square kilometers (four square miles). 

According to the corps, Ukraine retook the village of Seredine and cleared Russian troops from Novoselivka, Oleksandrivka, Yarova, and the outskirts of Korovyi Yar. 

Earlier, Gwara reported that Ukraine had reportedly launched a counteroffensive in the Lyman direction, retaking about 152 square kilometers (58 square miles) of Ukrainian territory. 

The loss of Russian position north of Lyman reduced the threat of the city being encircled and eased pressure on Sloviansk, about 22 kilometers (13 miles) southeast of Lyman, as well as on Borova in the Kharkiv oblast, about 25 kilometers (15 miles) north of reportedly recaptured area.

The Third Army Corps said that the Vivaldi operation degraded the combat capabilities of Russia’s 20th and 25th Combined Armies. According to its estimates, Russian losses at this stage of the operation amounted to about 1,500 troops killed or wounded, more than 12,000 drones, and hundreds of armored vehicles, artillery systems, and other weapons. 

“There is now a lot of information in open sources saying that the ultimate goal of our offensive is to reach the banks of the Chornyi Zherebets River. But the operation is called ‘Vivaldi,’ and Vivaldi, as we know, has four seasons. This is only the first one,” Andrii Biletskyi, the Commander of Third Army Corps, said. 

The 3rd army corps also said that Ukrainian drone units disrupted Russian logistics routes, forcing Russian forces to move fuel supply infrastructure outside Ukraine and into Russia’s Voronezh oblast, where they established a pipeline and storage facilities.
