UKRAINE, Sep. 14 — The spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andrii Demchenko, said on the national Ukrainian TV that recent Russian airstrikes at Rivne, Lviv oblast, and Volyn region were enabled from the territory of Belarus. 

“(Weapons) that Russia launched were supported by the signal maintained by the relay transmitters in Belarus,” Demchenko said. 

Overnight on Sep. 13, Russian drones hit a truck near the Dorohusk-Jagodzin border crossing near Poland. 

Demchenko said that Ukrainian border guards, just as before, didn’t record the amassing of offensive forces near the Ukrainian border in Belarus, but the threat from Belarus remains. 

On Sep. 11, Oleh Ivashchenko, the head of Ukraine’s main intelligence agency, told The Times that relay transmitters in Belarus, six of which were located by intelligence along the border, were active again. 

Presumably, Belarus turned them off after Zelenskyy’s posed ultimatum to Belarusian dictator Alexandr Lukashenko in June, saying, “If he doesn’t (switch it off), ⁠we will.”

According to Zelenskyy, Belarus deployed these transmitters in the second half of 2025. RFE/RL’s Belarus Service published a report in which a military aviation and drone expert, Anatoliy Khrapchynskiy, said, “These stations can provide the first line of drones with high-quality and reliable communication at a distance of up to 150 kilometers.”
