KHARKIV, UKRAINE, Dec 19 — Law enforcement opened more than 20 thousand criminal proceedings investigating war crimes conducted by Russian soldiers and their allies in Kharkiv Oblast.
Kharkiv regional Prosecutor’s office reported these numbers in response to Gwara Media’s inquiry.
According to regional prosecution, in 2022, 10,790 criminal proceedings under the Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of laws and customs of war) were registered in Kharkiv Oblast. During 11 months of 2023, law enforcement registered 10,009 criminal cases.
Last year, 1,316 criminal cases under the Art. 110 of the CCU (encroachment upon Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability) were registered, and 27 such cases were registered during 11 months of 2023.
In Ukraine, since the beginning of the full-scale war, law enforcement documented more than 100 thousand Russian war crimes.
