UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep. 24 — On Sep. 22, Ukrainian forces advanced in the area near the village of Zapadne in the Kupiansk district, DeepState, an OSINT war monitoring group said.

Zapadne is a village located 10 kilometers (6 miles) north of Kupiansk — an important logistics hub in eastern Kharkiv oblast that connects the region with Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. Earlier, Ukrainian forces reported counterattacks east of the village.

According to DeepState, the 23rd RUG assault unit, part of the 2nd Khartiia Corps, retook Zapadne and the wooded areas south and east of the village.

In early September, the press service of the RUG unit said that they had cleared the territory between the settlements of Zapadne and Dvorichna, 5 kilometers (3 miles) from the village.
