UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep. 30 — A gas pipeline that Russians used to get Ukrainian civilians out of Kupiansk in eastern Kharkiv oblast hasn’t been destroyed, but it is damaged in some sections, Viktor Trehubov, the press officer of the military group responsible for the Kharkiv oblast, told Gwara Media.

On Sep. 27, Ukrainian reconnaissance drones recorded Russian troops getting civilians out of the Kupiansk community with a gas pipeline in the Kharkiv oblast. They used people as human shields to leave the area where Ukrainian forces conduct counterattacks, the military said.

According to Trehubov, Ukrainian forces didn’t destroy the pipeline because they have no control over the entire territory where it is located. The gas pipeline running from Shebelynka to Ostrogozhsk in Russia.

Among these civilians were children and the elderly. This case will be investigated as a war crime, the military said.

Trehubov also said that, although separate groups of Russian troops might infiltrate deep beyond the frontline in northern Kharkiv oblast, it doesn’t mean that they control these territories.

The Institute for the Study of War said that Russian forces recently conducted infiltration missions in Tokarivka and Hoptivka border villages north of Kharkiv.
