UKRAINE, Oct. 1 — Russia attacked Ukraine with a jet-powered drone carrying warhead with a cumulative-cutting charge designed to destroy high-voltage power lines and steel bridge structures, Serhii Flash Beskrestnov, defense technologies adviser to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said.
It was the first Russian attack with a munition like that: it comprised the main explosive charge of 40 kilograms (88 pounds) and four attack modules.
Beskrestnov believes that Russian forces plan to use it to attack important high-voltage power lines all across Ukraine.
Tonight, Russian forces started to launch massive attacks on the Ukrainian energy system. They damaged energy infrastructure in Kyiv and the region, including the Trypilska thermal power plant, which supplies most of central Ukraine.
Also, a Russian attack on the Kharkiv oblast left settlements north of Kharkiv without electricity.
