UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Oct. 13 — Russian soldiers took another group of civilians from Kupiansk, leading them to a gas pipeline in the Kharkiv oblast and then attacking the group from artillery and mortars, the Ukrainian 2nd Corps Khartiia reported.
On the morning of Oct. 13, Khartiia reconnaissance drones recorded a group of people consisting of two women, a child, and several men going from Kupiansk to the gas pipeline running from Shebelynka to Ostrogozhsk in Russia.
Along the way, the group came under mortar and artillery fire. The drone footage showed that there are casualties among the civilians, said Khartiia.
Khartiia added that they didn’t attack the group, and the analysis of the explosions showed that the fire came from the eastern bank of the Oskil river, where the Russian position was located.
The Ukrainian military believes that Russia will use this case to blame Ukraine for the attack on the civilian evacuation from Kupiansk.
In September, Khartiia recorded the first case of Russian troops bringing civilians out of the Kupiansk community through this gas pipeline and “using them as cover” to retreat and avoid Ukrainian counteroffensive in that area.
Also, Viktor Trehubov, the press officer of the military group responsible for the Kharkiv oblast, said that the gas pipeline hasn’t been destroyed, but it is damaged in some sections.
