Researchers at the University of Pharmacy have created the PLANTOR medication for the needs of the Ukrainian military, Suspilne Kharkiv reported.

The project began before the Russian full-scale invasion. Tests were conducted on rats and artificial blood. The scientist notes that the product meets the conditions of state expertise and is safe to use for soldiers. It was registered under a simplified procedure as a medical product.

“The principle of the product is that upon contact with blood, it instantly absorbs water from the blood. The blood cannot flow dehydrated, and the bleeding stops quickly enough,” Serhii Shtryhol, head of the Department of Pharmacology, explains.

Production of the drug was launched in Dnipro last spring. The product cannot be bought in pharmacies, as it is intended only for the needs of the military. Since the launch, more than 10,000 packages have been produced and sent to the frontline.

According to Serhii Shtrihol, colleagues from Latvia have already shown interest in the development of Ukrainian scientists.
