KHARKIV, UKRAINE, Apr 04 — The Kharkiv Prosecutor’s Office approved and sent to court an indictment against a former law enforcement officer for high treason committed under martial law.

According to the investigation, a 39-year-old officer of one of the departments of the National Police in the Luhansk region served in a consolidated unit in the Kupiansk district. The policeman, a member of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, contacted a representative of the Russian Federation via Telegram.

The man received a task from his Russian supervisor to collect and transfer information about the location of Ukrainian military personnel and their military equipment, routes of movement, passwords, etc.

Between June and October 2023, the man, conducting reconnaissance and subversive activities against Ukraine, sent data to a representative of the aggressor state, which Russia then used to plan missile attacks on the territory of Ukraine.

Law enforcement officers exposed and detained the man in November 2023. At the request of the prosecution, he received a custodial measure of restraint.

The man was dismissed from the National Police of Ukraine. The accused faces life imprisonment and confiscation of property.
