UKRAINE, Jul. 31 — Ukraine returned four children aged 6 to 15 from the Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine, reported Dmytro Lubinets, Ukrainian ombudsman.
According to Lubinets, this is the fifth time Kyiv brings Ukrainian children home with the support of Melania Trump, the First Lady of the US.
A 6-year-old boy from the Luhansk region was among those who were returned. He was staying with his grandparents after his parents evacuated because of the Russian airstrikes.
Ukraine also returned a 9-year-old girl who wasn’t able to leave the Russian-occupied part of the Kherson region because she lost her documents.
Kyiv officials also brought home two boys, both at the age of 15. One of them stayed in the city of Mariupol, located in the Russian-occupied part of the Donetsk region, after his parents died. The other boy had been separated from his family because of Russia’s full-scale invasion and was unable to return home for a long time.
