The Swedish-Ukrainian PROSTO project continues to support the Kharkiv Oblast communities. At the end of January 2023, the Balakliia community received a car and two sets of equipment to provide administrative services to locals.
Last year, 13 liberated communities in Kharkiv Oblast received the first crisis support from the project. The organization handed over the equipment necessary for the renewal of the Administrative Services Center (ASC) functioning worth UAH 1,140,000 (~$31000).
“The local communities` restoration is one of the key priorities of Swedish support to Ukraine in the humanitarian sphere. We understand the importance of quick recovery and, at the same time, high-quality coordination and cooperation at various levels. I also want to emphasize the importance of the democratic involvement of residents in decision-making on community restoration. It is the best guarantee of organizing effective projects and transparent and socially accountable processes,” says Maria Lindgren-Saltanova, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Sweden in Ukraine.
The mobile ASC contains a laptop, a portable scanner, a laser printer, and a 4G Wi-Fi router. Moreover, the car is equipped with an inverter.
The provided car and equipment are worth UAH 834,000 (~$23000).
The PROSTO project “Support for the Ukrainian services availability” is financed by the Swedish Government through the Swedish International Development Agency Sida and is implemented by SALAR International AB, a subsidiary of the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR). The project team works in two offices in Stockholm and Kyiv.
Earlier, the Balakliia community residents received humanitarian aid from the Howard G. Buffett Foundation and the American Global Empowerment Mission organization.
