UKRAINE, Oct. 2 — Ukraine conducted its first combat launch of an FP-7 ballistic missile, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian President, said.
The FP-7 is a missile produced by the Ukrainian company Fire Point, which first presented it a year ago at the MSPO international exhibition in Poland.
According to the presentation, the missile has a range of up to 200 kilometers (124 miles) and a maximum speed of 1,500 meters per second. Its payload is 150 kilograms (331 pounds), and its maximum flight duration is 250 seconds.
In February 2026, Fire Point conducted the first flight tests of the FP-7 ballistic missile.
Zelenskyy did not specify exactly what the target of the first combat missile launch was or its results. He said that the missile will next go into production.
As part of the Freyja defense system project, the Fire Point also plans to develop an interceptor for Russian ballistic missiles based on FP-7.
Fire Point is a Ukrainian defence manufacturer that develops long-range drones and cruise missiles called Flamingo. Although it has become a major player in the Ukrainian defence industry since 2022, it’s investigated for alleged connections with the energy corruption scandal, the Energoatom case, involving Timor Mindich and top officials from Zelenskyy’s close circle.
