Jul. 20 — Russian forces launched more ballistic missiles at Ukraine in July than they produce in a month, said the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

On Jul. 19, Russia launched one of its largest missile attacks on Ukraine, deploying more than 40 missiles at Ukraine, said Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine.

Militarnyi, a Ukrainian defense media outlet, reported that over the 19 days of July, Russia has used an amount equivalent to two-thirds of its planned annual production of Zircon ballistic missiles. In 2026, it plans to produce only 30 such missiles.

Militarnyi, referring to Ukrainian Air Defense reports, said that in July, Russia attacked Ukraine with 107 missiles, more than it produced during the same period. . According to Ukrainian Intelligence, Russia produces more than 60 Iskander and 40 RM-48U ballistic missiles each month.

The ISW said that Russia is using its reserves to continue increasing the number of ballistic missiles for attacks against Ukraine, as they have a higher level of accuracy than drones and cruise missiles. 

At the same time, Russian forces have reduced the number of drones they launch during each nighttime attack. In July, Russian forces launched 2,955 drones, compared to 5,749 in June.
