RUSSIA, ST. PETERSBURG, Aug. 27 — Lieutenant Сolonel of Russian Aerospace Forces was killed by a self-made explosive device attached to his car, reported Russian media. His wife, who was with him in the vehicle, is hospitalized in an intensive care unit. Both of them reportedly had their legs blown off by the explosion.

The Investigative Committee of Russia opened an investigation into the car blast. Investigators confirmed that one of the people affected by the fire is hospitalized and another is dead, and then verified that the dead person was a Russian soldier and the injured person is his wife.

Militarnyi, a Ukrainian military outlet, writes that part of the buildings in the district where the explosion happened (Slavyanka) were bought by the Russian Ministry of Defense for Russian military personnel and their families.

No one has claimed responsibility for the assasination as of yet.
