UKARAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug. 26 Ukrainian forces expanded their foothold in the village of Zapadne and advanced southwest of Dvorichna rural settlement, both north of Kupiansk, reported Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Earlier, ISW reported intensifying Russian airstrikes on Kupiansk without actual advances in this area. Kupiansk is an important logistic hub that connects Kharkiv oblast with bordering Donetsk and Luhansk regions, so Russia puts a lot of effort to capture the city.

ISW analysts also cite the geolocated footage that shows Russian forces attacking Ukrainian artillery positions northeast of the village of Nove in the Borova direction.

The footage indicates that Ukrainian troops likely advanced east of the village of Novomykhailivka and retained control of the village of Novyi Myr despite Russian claims that they had captured the village.

At the same time, Ukrainian forces continued their middie strike operations against Russian technological infrastructure in the Russian-occupied Luhansk oblast. Analysts say that Ukrainian forces damaged a Peresvet-M specialized electronic warfare (EW) system in the city of Luhansk.
