KHARKIV OBLAST, Mar 1 — The Russian army has shelled Kharkiv Oblast’s gas infrastructure 80 times since the beginning of 2024.
More than half of the damage happened in the Kupiansk and Lyptsi communities, reported the Kharkiv branch of Gazmerezha [the national gas distribution operator — ed.].
“The enemy caused the most damage to gas networks in the Kupiansk and Lyptsi communities. There are more than 40 damages in the Kupiansk and 10 in Lyptsi communities,” the statement said.
In total, the Russian armed aggression damaged the gas pipelines in nine communities of the Oblast: Liubotyn, Velykyi Burluk, Kupiansk, Zolochiv, Derhachi, Lyptsi, Rohan, Zmiiv and Chuhuiv.
The specialists repaired over 20 broken gas lines without interrupting the gas supply to consumers’ homes.
Since the beginning of the year, the Russian shelling damaged about 20 medium- and low-pressure gas distribution pipelines, residential gas pipelines, a gas control point, and buildings of three gas stations in the Bohodukhiv, Kupiansk, and Chuhuiv districts of the Oblast.
As reported earlier, the shelling on February 28 damaged a low-pressure gas pipeline connected to an apartment building in Kupiansk. Twenty-seven customers lost their gas supply.
