UKRAINE, KHARKIV, May 1 — Russia has launched 105 airstrikes on Kharkiv over April, injuring 54, 6 children among them, said Ihor Terekhov, the city’s mayor.
Kharkiv is a city with a population over 1 million, located 30 kilometers (18 miles) from a frontline. Since the beginning of the full scale invasion, Russia has systematically attacked the city with weapons of different types, including drones, missiles and glide bombs. In total, these attacks destroyed 13,000 buildings, 9,500 of them residential.
In April, Russia attacked Kharkiv with drones of different types, including jet-powered Shaheds and AI-based V2Us. Russian troops also launched an Iskander missile at the city on Apr. 25.
“The enemy attacked transport and business, with dozens of vehicles damaged. The residential area suffered very much too,” Terekhov said.
Altogether, during the month, the air raid alerts in Kharkiv lasted over 356 hours, which is equivalent to 15 days, while, in the region, air raid alerts in April took 24 days.
