UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Apr. 20 — Over the day, Russia launched an artillery rocket, five glide bombs, and 47 kamikaze drones on Kharkiv and 20 settlements of the region, injuring 9 people, reported Oleh Syniehubov, regional governor.
In the city of Izium, the Russian strike injured a 45-year-old woman and two men aged 53 and 52. The attack also damaged four houses, three vehicles, a warehouse, and a building whose type the authorities didn’t specify.
Russian forces launched ten kamikaze drones on the village of Berestovenka in the Berestyn district, damaging a farming building and two houses. Medics provided help to two women aged 39 and 78, who suffered an acute stress reaction because of the attack.
On the night of Apr. 20, the Russian kamikaze drone also attacked an apartment building in the village of Velykyi Burluk of the Kupiansk district, injuring a 55-year-old man and two women aged 88 and 88, said the Emergency Service of Ukraine.
“Rescuers worked under extremely difficult circumstances to quickly extinguish the fire, preventing its spread to neighboring buildings,” the Emergency Service’s statement said.
The Russian attack injured a 53-year-old man in the village of Bilyi Kolodiaz of the Vovchansk district.
On Apr. 20, Russian forces also launched another attack on the railway infrastructure in the Kharkiv oblast, said the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories.
The ministry reported that Russia damaged rolling stock, components of the contact network and power supply, and the train station’s building. The repair works are ongoing.
Since the beginning of 2026, Russia has launched over 600 attacks on Ukraine’s railway infrastructure and damaged more than 1800 of its objects.
Russian forces also launched a drone attack on the Osnovianskyi district of Kharkiv; no injuries or damage were reported.
Over the past day, Russian attacks also damaged power grids, houses, gas stations, culture and medical facilities, educational and apartment buildings, and an outbuilding across the Kharkiv region.
