UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep. 3 — Ukrainian forces of the 23rd RUG assault unit of the 2nd Corps Khartiia’s returned four square kilometers (1,5 square miles) on the Kupiansk axis between Dvorichna and Zapadne settlements, said the press service of the RUG unit.
On Aug. 31, the Khartiia’s infantry cleared 2 square kilometers (0.8 square miles) of forested area southwest of Zapadne and continued to advance west of Dvorichna.
Following the latest operation, the total area of liberated territory stands at 13.5 square kilometers (5.2 square miles).
The RUG unit operated jointly with service members of the 35th Marine Brigade in one of the sectors.
On Sep. 1, Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, claimed that Russian forces captured 14 Ukrainian settlements, including Kozacha Lopan in northern Kharkiv oblast. Ukrainian forces denied his claim.
