UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep. 29 — Ukrainian forces of the 23rd RUG assault unit of the 2nd Corps Khartiia retook control over the area east of Zopadne village on the Kupiansk axis, the press service of the unit said.

Zapadne is a village located 10 kilometers (6 miles) north of Kupiansk — an important logistics hub in eastern Kharkiv oblast that connects the region with Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. Earlier, Ukrainian OSINTers reported Ukrainian troops advancing in the village.

During the operation, the RUG unit destroyed the Russian positions and captured a Russian soldier. Assault teams worked with drone pilots, the press service added.

At the same time, the Institute for the Study of War said that Ukrainian forces advanced southeast of Kupiansk, near the villages of Hlushkivka and Novoosynove — areas where Russia claims its troops are holding positions.
