UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug  6 — The “Kharkiv” group of forces refutes the information published by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) about the possible full occupation of the aggregate plant in Vovchansk by Russian troops.

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Heavy battles are ongoing near Lyptsi and in and around Vovchansk, including at the city’s aggregate plant, where the Russians are trying to break through but are constantly suffering losses.

Vitalii Sarantsev, a spokesman of the “Kharkiv” group of forces, told Gwara Media that a small group of Russian soldiers took over the aggregate plant in Vovchansk in May, and the group has remained blocked on the plant’s territory since.

“The number of Russian troops still blocked at the aggregate plant constantly decreases. Currently, about 40 of them are there. They have food and ammunition delivered by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and they cannot leave,” Sarantsev said.

Sarantsev noted that these soldiers’ position is isolated from the main positions of the Russian forces, and the Ukrainian army controls all paths of approaching the plant.

The “Kharkiv” group of forces reported that in the central part of Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region, Ukrainian troops destroyed a Russian infantry fighting vehicle BMP-2 with crew and troops, which were moving to storm the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
