KHARKIV OBLAST, Jan 2 — The Russian military advanced near Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region amidst continuous fighting in the region, reports Institute for the Study of War (ISW) experts in their assessment for February 1.
According to analysts, geolocation data from February 1 show that Russian units advanced to a segment of the Kupiansk-Svatove highway east of Tabaivka (southeast of Synkivka).
Russian military bloggers also claim that Russians advanced nearby Synkivka and west from Tabaivka and entered Ivanivka from southeast of Kupiansk, though ISW experts didn’t find visual confirmations for those claims.
According to Ukrainian and Russian data, the positional fighting continues in the district: to the northeast of Kupiansk near Synkivka and Lake Lyman and to the southeast of Kupiansk near Ivanivka, Berestove, Krokhmalne, and Tabaivka.
