Foreign partners will help rebuild the Kharkiv Appeal Commercial Court, damaged by Russian shelling of Kharkiv. Ukrainian architects are preparing a restoration project.

In March, a Russian aerial bomb fell near the Kharkiv Court of Appeal. The building designed by Kharkiv architect Oleksii Beketov is an architectural monument.

Due to the shelling, the corridors of the courthouse are littered with broken window glass and construction debris. The furniture and office appliances have been damaged.

According to Suspilne Kharkiv, president of the Ukrainian Academy of Architecture Oleh Slieptsov inspects the damaged building. He will develop a reconstruction project.

“You can see the beams, which are cracked and destroyed. We need to conduct structural capacity research. And then it will be clear whether we are strengthening or replacing certain parts of the building,” Slieptsov explains to Suspilne.

Foreign partners will be involved in the restoration of the building. Slieptsov went on a business trip to Denmark.

“We have found foreign partners who want to help us restore architectural monuments. We are developing projects together with Kharkiv architects to find the solutions for the restoration of this object,” said Slieptsov.

As a result of the explosion in March, the facade of the court has been damaged. The employees were not injured. Before the invasion, restoration work had been underway here, says Yurii Yelizev, Head of the Economic Support Department.

Since August, the Kharkiv Court of Appeal has been temporarily operating in Valky.

Earlier, the Kalush Orchestra donated more than UAH300,000 (~$8 000) for the restoration of the Hryhoriy Skovoroda museum, which was destroyed by a Russian attack in Kharkiv Oblast.
