UKRAINE, Jul. 31 —  Ukraine has lost 50,000 soldiers killed and 400,000 wounded over four years of full-scale war, claimed Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian President, during an interview for the Hannity show on Fox News.

The president also said that there are a “large number” of Ukrainian soldiers missing in action.

According to Zelenskyy, total Russian losses amount to 1.6 million troops, of whom 700,000 were killed.

At the same time, in February, during an interview with the French media outlet France 2, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine had lost more than 55,000 soldiers killed in action.

A recent study by the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington found a higher number of Ukrainian losses, the New York Times reported. According to the study, Ukrainian forces have suffered between 525,000 and 625,000 casualties, including 125,000 to 150,000 deaths.

At the same time, the researchers estimated that Russia has lost around 1.4 million troops, including 450,000 killed.

The researchers also noted that Moscow is believed to have systematically underreported its military dead and wounded, while Ukraine does not publicly disclose official casualty figures. The study relied on casualty figures from American and British government estimates, among other sources.
