Jul. 7 — Ukrainian forces carried out an air attack on a fuel depot at Russia’s Belgorod airport, reported Ukraine’s General Staff.
Belgorod region borders Ukraine’s Sumy, Kharkiv and Luhansk oblasts. Its administrative center, the city of Belgorod, is located about 51 kilometers (31 miles) from Kharkiv.
At 12:51 a.m. today, Alexander Shuvaev, acting governor of Belgorod region, said that a Ukrainian missile attack on Belgorod and the surrounding region killed one person.
According to Shuvaev, Ukrainian forces attacked energy infrastructure in Belgorod, disrupting water and power supplies.
Exilenova+, Ukrainian Telegram channel, corroborates reports of a missile strike on Belgorod airport, publishing footage that showed a fire breaking out on the airport grounds.
At the same time, Astra, an independent Russian Telegram channel, reported an alleged Ukrainian attack on a Belgorod Linear Production Directorate for Main Gas Pipelines in Russia’s Belgorod region, also publishing footage of a fire at the impact site.
This facility is part of Gazprom Transgaz Moscow, a subsidiary of Russia’s state-owned gas giant Gazprom. It controls natural gas transmission infrastructure in the Belgorod region and is responsible for delivering gas to local consumers.
