UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug. 20 — Geolocated footage published on Aug. 19 by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) showed Ukrainian forces recently advancing in northern Kharkiv oblast, the ISW reported in its assessment.

Analytics said that Ukrainian troops advanced north of Bilyi Kolodiaz settlement, 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) from Vovchansk, a city in northern Kharkiv oblast, which Ukrainian OSINTers marked as occupied by Russians.

Also, the ISW said that geolocated footage published on Aug. 19 shows Russian forces striking a Ukrainian artillery system using four FAB-500 glide bombs in the northern Slatyne settlement.

Russian forces are increasingly reliant on glide bombs to strike military assets in the Ukrainian rear and facilitate Russian infantry advances along the frontline as they are less vulnerable to Ukrainian drone strikes than artillery systems, the ISW said.

The ISW added that the main goal of Russian forces in this sector remains to push Ukrainian troops back from the border with Russian Belgorod oblast and to advance to within artillery range of Kharkiv.
