UKRAINE, May 18 — Ukrainian engineers developed the first glide bomb, and it’s ready for combat use, said Mykhailo Fedorov, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
According to him, the development took 17 months. The weight of the explosive part is 250 kilograms.
The Ukrainian glide bomb has an exclusive construction that takes into account modern war realities — Fedorov said that it is not a replica of Western or Soviet development.
“It’s a domestic development by Ukrainian engineers designed to effectively strike fortifications, command posts, and other enemy targets dozens of kilometers deep after launch,” said the Minister.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has already purchased the first experimental batch. Pilots are currently practicing combat scenarios and adapting the use of the new weapon system to wartime conditions.
Fedorov added that these bombs will soon begin striking targets.
