Apr. 29 — Ukraine returned home 425 prisoners of war (POW) who had lived in Kharkiv oblast from Russian captivity since the beginning of Russian full-scale invasion in 2022, said Oleh Syniehubov, the governor of the region.

Syniehubov said that, among those 425 people, 22 POWs were released in April.

He said that over 11,000 families members who lost their loved ones during combat missions in Russia-Ukraine war and over 200 families whose relatives in Russian captivity are registered in the Kharkiv oblast.

Also, over 2,000 soldiers from the Kharkiv region are considered missing in action.

On Apr. 24, Ukraine returned 193 POWs from Russian captivity as part of the POWs exchange, including 13 Kharkiv locals.
