The 443rd day of the Russian Federation’s full-scale armed aggression against our country has begun. The enemy continues to shell Kharkiv region with mortars, artillery and air strikes.

The enemy continues to focus its main efforts on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Maryinka directions – 44 enemy attacks were repelled. The most fierce fighting continues for the towns of Bakhmut and Maryinka.

Slobozhanskyy sector

The enemy fired mortar and artillery shells at the towns of Guryev, Hlyboke, Staritsa, Bugrivatka, Ohirtseve, Hatyshche, Vovchansk, Tykhyne, Synelnykove, Zybine, Bochkove, Budarky and Velykyi Burluk in Kharkiv region.

Kupiansk direction

At the same time, the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions in the Kupyansk direction over the past day. The Russian army conducted an air strike in the area of Pishchane. The following villages and towns in the region came under enemy artillery and mortar fire: Odradne, Dvorichanske, Kamyanka, Topoly, Krasne Pershe, Figolivka, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Tabaivka.

More than 20 settlements in the Kharkiv region were under army fire.

On May 11-12, 2023, rescuers of the Kharkiv garrison of the State Emergency Service continued performing their duties in wartime.

During this period, 14 emergency calls were made, including:

  • 6 – to eliminate fires, 2 of which were caused by enemy shelling;
  • 1 – to check the sites of enemy shelling;
  • 8 – to provide assistance to the population.

On May 11, at about 12:00, the enemy fired a multiple rocket launcher system at the village of Velykyi Burluk, Kupiansk district, Kharkiv region. The shelling targeted the local market and the private sector. Private houses, trade pavilions, private and special vehicles of the utility company were damaged. A fire broke out on the territory of one of the private households on an area of about 70 square meters. A VAZ 2104 car parked near the market also caught fire. At 12:15, rescuers of the 12th State Fire and Rescue Unit, consisting of 2 crews, were sent to extinguish the fires. At 13:12 all the fires were extinguished. According to preliminary data, a woman born in 1961 and a girl born in 2006 were injured. They were hospitalized in a local hospital with moderate injuries. Another woman, born in 1980, was bruised. She was provided with medical aid on the spot.

At 14:15, the enemy attacked Vovchansk with artillery. One of the shells hit a private house. The owner of the house, born in 1935, was trapped under the rubble. At 14:36, rescuers from the 47th State Fire and Rescue Unit and firefighters from the Vilcha town centre arrived to search for and rescue the woman. They found her under the rubble of the destroyed building structures and handed her over to paramedics. She had shrapnel wounds to her face and limbs. An ambulance took the victim to a medical facility.

Over the day, pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service seized and neutralized 46 units of explosive devices.
