UKRAINE, KHARKIV, June 11 — On June 10, Russian troops dropped three glide bombs (UMPB D-30) on the Saltivskyi and Kyivskyi districts of Kharkiv, killing one and injuring seven people, reported Kharkiv Oblast Governor Oleh Syniehubov.
Russia attacks Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city 19 miles from the state border, and its suburbs frequently — even more so since the beginning of their new ground offensive from north and northeast of the Kharkiv region on May 10.
A fire broke out in the aftermath of a Russian bombing. The attack damaged 35 houses, 86 garages, and 22 cars. Another munition did not explode.
A 76-year-old man got trapped under the rubble of one of the buildings.
“He [the man] was almost completely under the debris of slabs and the remains of concrete structures. Rescuers used special tools to lift the slabs and rescue the man,” said Yevhen Vasylenko, spokesman for the Kharkiv Oblast State Emergency Service, at the hit site.
Oleh Syniehubov, Kharkiv Oblast Governor, told journalists that the Russian army shelled Kharkiv more than 1,500 times since the beginning of 2024, about 200 of which were missile attacks.
